Step by step method
Step 1

Boil the potatoes: Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water until just tender (not mushy).

Step 2

Mash & mix: Drain and mash the potatoes. Add egg, cornflour, and all seasonings (salt, pepper, oregano, red chilli powder). Mix well into a dough-like consistency.

Step 3

Shape the hashbrowns: Take portions of the mixture and shape into medium-sized patties (round or oval).

Step 4

Fry until golden: Heat oil in a pan. Fry hashbrowns on medium heat until crisp and golden brown on both sides.

Step 5

Serve hot: Enjoy with ketchup, garlic mayo, or alongside eggs for breakfast.

Tips & variations
  • For extra crispiness, shallow fry instead of deep fry.
  • You can add a little grated cheese or chopped herbs to the mixture for more flavor.
  • If mixture feels too soft, add a bit more cornflour.
