These homemade doughnuts are soft, fluffy, and perfectly golden fried – just like bakery-style! Made with a simple yeast dough using flour, milk, egg, sugar, and butter, these doughnuts are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. You can glaze them with chocolate, dust with powdered sugar, or coat in cinnamon sugar for the ultimate treat. Step by step method
Step 1

In a bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, sugar, and vanilla essence until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix warm water, 1 tsp sugar, and yeast. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes until foamy.

Step 3

In a large bowl, add flour and butter. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingers until crumbly.

Step 4

Add the yeast mixture and the egg mixture into the flour. Mix well until a soft dough forms.

Step 5

Transfer to a floured counter and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Once risen, divide the dough into small balls or desired shapes.

Step 8

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium flame. Fry the dough balls in batches until golden brown on all sides.

Step 9

Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Step 10

Serve warm – you can dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with honey, or enjoy plain.
